Rap It Up! (Looking At Lyrics)

After I’d witnessed its slapdash beginnings during the early 1970s in and on the subway cars of New York City, I was interested in graffiti and the hip hop culture once again, but  briefly. In 2010 I frequented the graffiti mecca 5Pointz, mining the material which later I built as art. Although I’d been dismissive of rap, words and pictures interwoven as one piece have always interested me.

But I had no desire to document the Hip Hop scene. I offer these images  only as a personal  expression that renders the words just barely distinguishable from the primitive chaos. So inspired I am now applying the technic to the words of lyricists from any number of sources, from the Bible to Bob Dylan.
